This Indonesian Hibachi Chef is Learning to Blog!

Saying “hello world!” might feel scary, and I completely agree, but I need to complete Lesson 3.

First of all, let me introduce myself. My name is Fnu Ghaleib. Just call me Ghaleib, because FNU means First Name Unknown. I’m originally from Indonesia where many people have only one name. I decided to live in USA, and my ID needed the first name and last name. They gave me FNU for my first name. How cool is that?

I live in Illinois, and work in Kentucky as a hibachi chef. Yes, I am one of those chefs who can cook meat, vegetable, seafood dishes on a high-heat, metal cooking plate (also known as hibachi grill or teppanyaki).

Hibachi is a Japanese word. Literally, the meaning of hibachi is “Fire Bowl”. In culinary, hibachi is “the cooking method” that uses thick metal cooking plate (also known as a hibachi grill).

The other similar term of hibachi is teppanyaki. The word of teppanyaki is derived from teppan, which means iron plate, and yaki, which means grilled, broiled or pan-fried.

I have been in Asian culinary business since 2005, and decided to become a hibachi chef in 2014. I don’t have a formal culinary background, only the experience speaks for itself.

I love this hibachi job, but sometimes I can’t see my passion clearly in there. I can only pray and take a lot of hopium pills. I hope today is better than yesterday. I hope the customers will be in the good mood. I hope this blogging journey will breakthrough my roadblocks. See, I just took 3 hopium pills.

Hope, this is Goal. Goal, please meet Hope.

I hope this blogging journey would be awesome. In fact, it is waaaay more awesome when I join WPCourses (Blogging for Beginners). This course reminds me why I need the goals in my blogging journey. Here are my 3 goals.

  • My first goal for my blog is basically to help me land a job as a hibachi chef.
  • My second goal is actually to share my knowledge in the area of hibachi cooking for my fellow hibachi beginners.
  • And my third goal is to support hibachi restaurants owners to get the knowledgeable hibachi chefs.
